A boy born without limbs finds the joy of walking for
Sosi, an 8 year old boy was born in Kitantalo, one of the villages in Kibuku District. At birth, his mother noticed that he did not have legs and feared for his life since she knew that he would never walk. Relatives and friends encouraged her to kill or bury him at a young age to avoid hardships when he grows but she didn’t listen to them.
At the age of three, Sosi found difficulty in visiting toilets, failed to go to school, places of worship or even play with friends because of his condition. His mother locked him in their small hut whenever she went out and carried him on her back sometimes. She toiled with him and went through depression associated with mockery from his age mates, friends and relatives who believed that he was a bad omen to the family.
A ray of hope dawned into her life in December 2019 when leaders from Agape Christian Ministries visited her home and registered the child into the children’s ministry in Tirinyi. The child was taken to Corsu Hospital-Entebbe, measured to get fitting artificial limbs and even trained on how to walk and play. Sosi is now excited to independently move to school, places of worship and even play just like his friends.
